Prayers for our grandson Drew........

Updated at 4:12 pm: This is Amy (picketfencemom), Betty's daughter. Drew was taken by helicopter to Egleston Children's Hospital, and is in ICU there. My sister said that he is still not awake, but that when the nurses stuck him with the IV needle...his eyes did pop open. The doctors there are doing a CT scan just to rule out various causes of the seizures, but they still don't have answers yet. But my sister and BIL are encouraged, and that encourages us! Thank you for concern and please keep praying! My parents are on their way up there, so please pray for traveling mercies for them as well.

Our twelve year old grandson Drew is in special need of your prayers. This morning at school he had a seizure, passed out and is in the hospital. His mother is a teacher and was able to come to him quickly. He is being evaluated in the local hospital. He has had a grand mal seizure and four others. They are checking him for menningitis and making arrangements to transfer him to Atlanta , probably Egleston's Children Hospital. His father has diabetes so there may be a connection.

Drew is a precious, loving child, so mannerly.

We know our gracious Lord hears the prayers of His children.. We feel so in need of Him .

Thank you.

Winter Flowers in Bloom...

It's nice to see a pretty bloom in the middle of winter, so I thought I'd share photos of the flowering quince in my backyard and the pink geraniums on my back porch. Enjoy!

The Truth Comes Out..........

When my three oldest grandchildren, a grandson and twin granddaughters were about six and eight years old, they, the two mothers and I were on our way to the beach for a few days. After a couple of hours of riding they became bored and restless. I announced that we would play a game. If you know the correct answer, raise your hand.

The first question, "Who is President of the United States?" All three quickly answered "Bill Clinton!"

The second question, "Who is the Vice President?" None of them had heard of Al Gore.

The third question,, "Who is the Speaker of the House?" Without hesitation, my grandson shouted, "My Mama!"

A Recipe For Rachel Ray's No Fail Fudge......

This is a recipe that I've used many times....Very easy

1 bag of chocolate bits
1 bag of butterscotch bits
1 can of condensed milk (I use Eagle Brand)
1 cup of chopped walnuts ( pecans, etc)

In a heavy saucepan melt the first two ingredients, stirring constantly.. Stir in the milk and walnuts and continue stirring until thoroughly melted and mixed.

Pour into a rectangle container and smooth. ( I line my container with aluminum foil so that I can lift it out to cut). Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut into bite size pieces.
Enjoy and share with friends. I make this at Christmas to give as gifts.

The Sweetest Name...

The most precious name in the English language is whatever your grandchildren call you……………………

My grandchildren call me ‘Mam’. My daughter ‘M’, who had the first grandchild started this. I had always thought I‘d be a “Marmie.” However, I wouldn‘t change ‘Mam‘ for the world. I don’t know any other ‘Mams‘. When we go into a store, employees will say, “May I help you, ma’am?” Or, “Here’s your change, ma’am.” Or, thank you, ma’am. My grandchildren will ask, “But Mam, how does everyone know your name?” LOL

Most of my eight grandchildren would first say “Mum”… later graduating to ‘Mam.’
I know a Gangy, Granky, Gin-Naw, Mam-Ma, Honey, Mammy, Giggles, Nana, Mimi, Mint, Jo-Jo, Granny, Joy-Joy, Am-Ma, Dah, Mom, Mama-Too, Mama Jean, and Yappy!

WHAT DO YOUR LITTLE DARLINGS CALL YOU?

Greetings From Country-Charm...First Post

Hey Y'all!

As a famous American, Minnie Pearl, was known for saying, "I'm so glad to be here!"

It has been said that a journey begins with the first step. This is my first posting on my journey into blogland. I have received so much pleasure from reading your blogs, and hearing your experiences, and seeing glimpses into your lives.

My next door daughter, "Picket Fence Mom", insists that I can do this. When our girls were learning to ride their bicycles and would get discouraged, I can remember hearing myself saying, "You can do it!" over and over again. I suppose I need to heed my own advice. I'm not familiar with many of the blogging terms, and I'm sure I'll make some bobbles along the way...but please be patient with me. My mother always said, "Anything somebody can do a lot of, I can do a little of."

I haven't climbed any tall mountains, or flown around the globe, or anything spectacular. But I have been blessed by beautiful sunrises, sunsets, rainbows, precious family (natural and church), baby lambs, devoted pets, dear friends, flowers, and so many other things not bought with money.

So many of you have such deep thoughts and so ably express them. I know what I feel, but sometimes it's difficult to convey thoughts to paper (or in this case, screen). I never want to disappoint my Heavenly Father. I am abundantly blessed every day.

The photo at the top is of my front door. After removing the Christmas wreath, it was too early for spring flowers. So I walked around the yard and gathered greenery. After placing a container for water in the hanging basket, I just stuck the greenery in. So...welcome! Come for a visit anytime!

God Bless.
