The Chicken's Traumatic Ride Through Atlanta............

As you know, this past Thursday we were in Atlanta for the funeral of a fellow minister, Don.

Even in the midst of sadness, God blesses us with glimpses of humor and laughter. Thursday, as we were in the heat of traffic in Atlanta, a big truck with crates of beautiful white, fluffy chickens came speeding by us. We had to look twice and pinch ourselves to see if we really saw what we thought we saw. The biggest white, fluffy chicken was outside a crate on the bottom row, hanging on for dear life. I tried to remember where my camera was and of course by the time I found it the truck was gone. I thought to myself that is either the bravest chicken I've ever seen or the dumbest.......or maybe this chicken had fallen in love with another chicken and just wanted to go along.............

Up ahead, traffic had come to a slow crawl, due to one cause or another. We came up on the petrified chicken still holding on for dear life. He or she, got up and turned around and we were afraid 'it' would jump off in traffic to certain death. However, upon arrival at the destination, the chicken in all probability was going to end up for someone's dinner so in the long run maybe 'it' was just trying to escape the inevitable........

By that time, I had located the camera and the picture of the chicken on the traumatic ride through Atlanta, was captured for posterity.......

Later, as we were contemplating where to eat, the consensus was 'no chicken!'

Thanks for the wonderful morning laugh. The chicken had quite the ride, didn't she!! How great that you could find some humor in what must have been a sad day for you.
I don't think I could have had chicken that night either!!

Betty, that is too cute! Poor little chicken, I would have been tempted to have saved his life. I hope he made it safe & sound, although as you said, what's the alternative going to be? LOL Great pic!

And uggghhh, on Atlanta traffic..that's the one thing I don't miss about my native city. :)

This was a hoot!
I once lived in a community of chicken farms and a plant not too far away...many are the "escapee's" we would see running up and down the roadways...

Poor thing!! I could help but feel sorry for this chicken. I have never liked chickens. I used to have to gather eggs as a child and was always getting bit!! But I still felt sorry for this one..Sandy

Wow what an amazing picture.
Thanks for visiting me. I chanaged over to shrub pots when it became too much hard work having lots of annual flowers in pots. This way they are there all year and do not need too much attention in thewinter. Do need clipping and pruning a couple of times a year in summer though and top dressing inspring.

In the UK a picture like this would have been taken to the RSPCA (The Royal Society for the Provention of Cruelty to Animals) and the owner of the farm and truck would have been prosecuted for cruelty.
Once in Spain my youngest son and I saw a truck crammed full of pigs on the way to be slaughtered. The animals were extremely distressed. I have been a vegetarian for years, and my son became one on seeing the cruelty to animals in transit.

Poor thing..!
I will wonder all day if it managed to escape..!
At least it gave you some lighter moments on what was a somber day.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog.

We used to live outside Atlanta, and I hated to drive in the city at all. I just cannot imagine a chicken riding like that and staying on. Poor thing! Had to chuckle at the thought of it being in love with another chicken on the truck.

Great photo capture!

Oh, don't you just love it when stuff like this happens? My husband and I have had discussions about whether God allows these things or even causes such things, purely for our enjoyment. I think it's the little everyday things that He does that make our day to day lives so enjoyable, if we just see them as that!
