What I Didn't Do Today........Have been away but home now.......

This is an email I was sent today.....reminded me once when my husband offered to babysit our two girls for the day while I had a day out shopping with a friend......when I arrived back home he said, "I don't know why your days are so hard. The girls were no problem".....Nothing had been done so far as housework...they had played all day....all three of them........

Subject: FW: How was your day....dear?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside,

still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and

wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the

house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he

found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the

throw rug

was wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and

the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled

on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on

the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles

of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or

that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out

the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy

soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay

in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in

the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him,

smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"

She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come

home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?"

"Yes," was his incredulous reply.

She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

We were in Chattanooga, TN last week....I'm reading blogs as fast as I can but don't have time to comment on each one.......I'll be back on schedule in a day or so, hopefully......

ha-ha! This is a good story. I've seen it before, but I still enjoy it. We had 4 children, one of whom was a special needs child. DH said more than once, "I could do what you do with one arm tied behind my back and have time left over." Now that he has seen a little more of the world, he says, "I don't know how you did all you did, and so little help from me." ;-) Better late than never, I guess. I love him anyway. 48th anniversary soon.

Oh what a wonderful story Betty, I was reading through it as quick as I could, wondering what ever had happened to create such chaos....... Yes, how very true. Have a wonderful day. Love - Marion

LOL, what a great story Betty and oh so true. :-) It is sad though, that the hard work of so many women is almost unnoticed and very seldom appreciated.

lol at the story Betty and so true!! What would that toilet paper be like if we didn't keep rolling it back up or folding the towels etc. How damp can one bathroom get? At first l thought you were describing this place here!- just kidding.
Hope you are well Betty- have been thinking about you. So happy that you had a lovely birthday and lots of fun surprises. Pic of you and hubby below is a keeper too.

I love this story!

My beautician was telling us Tuesday about her oldest daughter's husband taking a week off to go with the boys to the mountains on his motorcycle. He's in the service, and she teaches. They have a 2 1/2 year old that she was left with for a week - mind you. She told him, when he gets home, then she is taking a week off and he can take care of their son. He said, 'Well, perhaps a long weekend'. He didn't think he could do it for a whole week. It's much different when the work falls to the man. :)

This is like the time the husband came home, upset the house was a wreck, the kids dirty, the kids' sneakers were in the fridge and the milk in a closet, and he asked what his wife what she had been doing all day? She answered, Hey, they're alive, I've done my job!!!
