Little Red Guest House.......

This is our little red guest house.......

Small but comfortable......
Looking out our bedroom window in the spring.....

The living room settee was bought for $20.00 at a porch sale....I had it recovered in tapestry several years ago and it still looks great.....the two blue chairs were rescued from the curbside, the little white table a $5.00 purchase from a friend, the chest a gift from my Daddy when I graduated from high school. It received a new face lift with Queen Ann legs, and new hardware.......
This distinguished fellow was found in a thrift store....my husband's forefather came from Scotland so I decided he is a good representation for our family......He reigns at the little house as Lord of the Manor........
The Northwood Christmas tree.......
The gentleman's wardrobe was bought when I was a child to hold my clothes...the Bentwood chair a $2.00 buy, the little Nantucket table bought at a thrift store.....
A vintage Santa wreath.......
I was in a variety store and saw this Santa in the trash can...I asked about it and bought it for $1.00.......He had a broken hand so I glued some Holly on it........
I bought the goose on wheels at an antique mall for $8.00......
Empty gift boxes.......
A tea cart bought for $40.00......

I bought the candle lantern in TN for $1.00 several years ago....later, I saw one either like it or very similar for several dollars......

A rescued mirror frame sprayed white with red and white Willow dishes..........
My $1.00 white French Provencial chest painted black....I faux marbled the top and sprayed the hardware gold.....
The mantel with an original oil of an antebellum scene...a $10.00 purchase. I've seen prints of this picture....

The chair belonged to a dear lady who has passed away. The knitted throw has a label 'Nantucket'......It came from a thrift store.......

A print..........
Black and white toile...............
A battery radio drop leaf table bought for $2.00. The man I bought it from said it can be repaired.......
Lowboy chest I bought when I won a shopping trip.......
A highboy I bought in a thrift shop......the two chairs were 75 cents each.....
My animals bought when I was very young....years ago we covered everything that wasn't moving with calico.......
A letter my twin granddaughters wrote to us when they were very young........
Grandson drew wanted to give me something one Mother's Day...in his little hand he had a quarter......one of the best gifts I've ever received........
Bombay plate caddy with Redbird dessert plates....

Double jelly cabinet......
My Daddy's parent's cupboard....
I saw a wreath like this in a tea shop for $50.00....I made my own.......
A yard sale pitcher....once when I was serving dessert to ladies, one of them asked me if I knew the yellow pitcher was an antique......she had one like it that belonged to her grandmother.....

A 50 cent round old platter........
This vintage cabinet was in my Mama's kitchen when I was a little girl......
The kitchen....the pretty lace square cloth is actually plastic .....the rooster picture was painted years ago when I painted.....the green chair usually is in the living room.......the blue, child's youth chair came from a thrift shop....
The bath room.....another one of my paintings.....

A sewing machine cabinet holds a lamp........well, that's the little red house.....I had the guest book back at the beginning for you all to sign but somehow it got deleted.......thank you for visiting with me........

Betty,

Your little red guest house is lovely. All of the photos you've shown are beautiful.

I love roosters and that picture you painted is superb. The antiques and vintage items are wonderful. This is the kind of little house I would love to live in.

Merry CHRISTmas, my friend. May the Light of Christmas shine in your hearts and your home.

Blessings,
Mary

Hi! I just love your thrifty finds...something my hubby and I LOVE to do...lots of things in our house are from yard sales and thrift stores. Why not??? I was so amazed at how great your guest house looked...I kept thinking these were pictures from inside your own home. Great job! They should do an article on your in a magazine or one of those "how to decorate on a budget" shows!

Thanks for showing us!
