Shelf with Pewter.....................

It has been a few weeks since I've participated in Kelli's Show and Tell......................

I really like the new Show and Tell logo................

This is a shelf in my kitchen with part of my pewter.....the shelf was in its first life a deck for a hutch.....at our house things don't necessarily remain what they began as...........my husband sawed off a portion of the bottom......I also like teapots, roosters and blue and white dishes..........do you see beyond what something is to what it can be?

wow--I love the wallpaper--love red and white-- and I have always loved it with the blue and white!! Where did you get that paper? Hey--you cut of the head of the rooster--I would like to see a close up of him too. Where did you get the pewter---they used to sell a lot of it up in CT. Just curious. Very pretty display. May be the head is on---the big one--I just need a blow up to see better!

This is SO pretty!! What a fabulous idea to separate the hutch and use the top part this way!! I would have never thought about that!! Just recently, I saw a pretty hutch but realized that we really have nowhere to put it. However, the top part would have hung nicely on the wall just like this!!! Smart thinking!!

His,
Mrs. U

PS- I LOVE the blue and white dishes, too!!!

Hello Betty! It was so nice of you to drop by my blog and leave a greeting. I love your shelf and it is fun to use things in an altered state. It can give a new lease on things. I just posted about my few blue and white transferware that I have. I adore you Blue Willow meat platter. Have you ever heard the poem that I posted with it on my entry?

To answer your question...I met Jos while he was in Ohio on business and immigrated to Holland a few months later. 22 years later, I am still here in my newly adopted country.

So good to 'meet' you!

Ooo I love all the pewter!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I can imagine your husband's response to Ling's vet bill, as when my husband found out the bill he said something to the effect of "a 20 cent bullet would have been a lot cheaper." But that's a lot of talk, considering he's the one that brought home all our cats. ;)

What a wonderful, idea! I don't usually "see" those other possibilities, but when I see what others do, I think -- that's a great idea and so simple -- why didn't I think of that?

By the way, I love the music that's playing. I've never heard of Paul Cantrell before.

Hi Betty,
I am touched that you mentioned my visit in today's post. I am new to the blogging world and have been bouncing around from one to another. It has become quite an "escape" from my not-so-pleasant home life (nuff said there). You strike me as the real deal; sweet, honest and genuine. I'm glad I have met you.
God Bless,
Teresa

Oh, Betty, I love the teapots. My Dad used to have a lot of Puter cups. Yours are wonderful. I love the shelf that you made. We do a lot of that at our home also. What once was is something else today. My husband just turned our dinning room table that he had made 25 years ago into a bar between the dinnig room and kitchen. That way I didn't have to get rid of all the wonderful memories that we had of the family get to gethers around that table. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. connie from Texas

Dear Friend Betty......

Both John and I can truly identify with what you say about looking at something and seeing beyond its original use. Our home is full of many items that have been remodelled, recycling, reconstructed, renovated........ can it what you may. We get such a thrill from salvaging something that has passed its usefulness of being what it started out in life as. Apart from that, it has saved us what must be thousands of £’s in refurbishing our home. A truly satisfying feeling as well as helping save our planet from all the massive landfill problems.

I love your shelf, heavily laden with your magnificent collection of pewter and that willow pattern meat plate is a beauty. Love - Marion

Such a nice collection of pewter and such lovely wallpaper too. The roosters are fun! And yes, I do see beyond what something is to what it can be; I trained to be an interior designer. ;-)
