Finished.....finally....den remodel.................

I really feel that I should re-introduce myself because I haven't posted since January.....we removed a wall between our den and sun room....well, as you can imagine, that led to many other things to be done.....we had cypress paneling in the sun room and I didn't want it taken down so we finished the walls with painted veneer paneling.....laminate floors and brick pavers at the back door and fireplace......as our family has grown, our need for space has changed so OUT WITH THE WALL!
This is as you come into the den from my little garden-music room....not a good picture but then I'm not a good photographer!

This looks to the east side of the den, formerly the sun room....the blinds have been installed in this picture...other pictures were made before blinds....I like mirrors propped against walls...........

This cabinet had been in the sun room...It was given to me years ago by an elderly lady...I will paint the inside and shelves or paper them....what color do you think would best with the ironstone?

This is a replica birdhouse of the house I grew up in...the man who bought the house after my Mother died made it for me....it's a treasure to me...

I have a plate rail on each side of the header......

A table made by my husband several years ago .....

The tv cabinet.....
Looking toward the original part of the den.....I'm looking for a companion rug to the large one shown....

Another view......

A sitting area by the fireplace...........One of my favorite fabrics......

Left end of the hearth...seashells are among my favorite things...
Right side....looks like a heavy pot but it's actually papier mache...
A chest that my Mother and Daddy started housekeeping with...to the left of the steps going up into the kitchen...I have plates to accentuate the mirror. We were in Atlanta last week and I found the black checked shades at Ballard's Designs along with some other goodies...a wonderful place to visit.....

A jelly cupboard Edward made several years ago...We had a slight uneven floor problem at the back door area that had to be remedied...Danny, our builder, came to the rescue with brick pavers...they don't really look as red as the picture...neither does the floor....it's that photographer again...
The piano previously was against a wall but I like it like this...the toile chair needs to be recovered, probably in a plaid...
A cabinet across from the fireplace.......the picture was made in lamplight....

This picture was made by lamplight and the reds look brown...I'm trying the little white tea table in this area and I'm thinking of painting it the color of the settee....what do you think?

Well, that's what has been happening at our house....not a big project compared to most....but it was MAJOR to us!

Hi Betty! Your home is so lovely! I see you have lots of pink willow ware, I have a few pieces, but lots of blue.

I'm a little embarrassed, but you may remember me. I think last year I had left you a comment and asked why you didn't update often. I didn't have a blog or didn't know how to save the 'home page' to my favorites. I had saved that one post of yours and every time I came to see you, it was that page! :)

Well, I've started a blog in June and am having a wonderful time. I was hopping through Blogland today and found you again! You do have a lovely blog and I hope I'm forgiven and you'll come visit me sometime.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Welcome back to Blogland, Betty! I really enjoyed seeing all your photos. You've certainly had a lot going on around there and I'm sure you were relieved to see light at the end of the tunnel. Beautiful new room you created.

I am seeing your blog for the first time, and you have done such a lovely job with your renovations! You were wondering about paint color for your cabinet. I see little dashes of yellow here and there, and I think your cabinet and your little table would look beautiful in a soft buttery color. With the hints of red and those lovely black checked shades...wow. The ironstone would pop.

Betty,

This is a major renovation to me as well. It takes time to get everything done and it looks absolutely fabulous. I love all the furniture that Edward has made for you. The jelly cupboard reminds me of one that Grandma had. It was made of pine and held all kinds of goodies.

I love all that you've done. Great job. Glad to see you posting again.

Blessings,
Mary

Oh Betty, sorry I haven't been around sooner to congratulate you on your beautiful renovation. Everything is so lovely. I know what you mean about needing more space. Often you hear about people down sizing as their children leave home. I totally disagree. When the chicks fly the coop they come home with more chicks and to encourage them to come home we need more space for them to spread out and create new memories. I think that was the longest sentence I have ever typed;) Sorry!
Good to see you back to blogging. Hope all is well with you. How is Ronald doing. I still keep him in my prayers. One of these days I will share with you the story of why Ronald is so dear to my heart. Please give his family my best wishes.
Hugs,
sue

Glad you got it all finished Betty and I know that YOU are glad.

What a lovely room.

Colour? I can only think of a contrast to make the white china stand out - what about the yellow of the bird house that sits on top.
