I believe that angels are sent to aid us in times of distress....the Bible cites examples...the Apostle Paul said that angels stood by his side through the night.....many other times angels are mentioned helping.......
A few days ago, my husband, Edward, was in town running errands and the van shut off in several lanes of traffic. He couldn't activate the hazard lights...he didn't dare try to get out because of traffic zipping by. Across the street, a tire and battery store was located, two men saw what was happening and came running to his aid....they pushed the van to the side, stopping traffic as they went......it was determined a new battery was needed even though the one in the van was installed in March. The facts: the van stopped in front of the store where the existing battery was purchased, two employees saw the dilema and acted.........installed a new battery at no charge.
Early today, Edward and I had appointments at a hospital in a neighboring town. He, for blood work, me for a bone density test. Afterwards, we stopped by McDonald's for coffee. He started the van and we made it a few feet to the exit drive when the van died. Same situation as earlier in the week. We looked at each other believing it couldn't be happening again.
Here we were blocking the exit....Edward wondering who should we call. I remembered we had joined Triple A road service a few weeks earlier.....it takes a few minutes to locate the card and call....the lady had many questions...meanwhile, dirty looks were coming our way. Finally, she said she would send a tow truck......
No one had offered to help......then a car stopped and two men, badly unkempt in appearance, asked if we had a problem. I would have been afraid had I met them on the street. Edward asked if they could help push the van back into a parking place. They immediately got out and easily manueverd the van back into the parking space......the entire time we were at McDonald's they were the only ones to stop and offer help..........Lord, help me not to judge a book by its cover........nor people by their outward appearance.......
We were so appreciative and quickly gave them each money......so, for the moment, we were at least safe. Shortly, a tow truck arrived and the driver and Edward determined it was the alternator. They thought, after jumping the battery off, that we might be able to drive across town to the garage. He followed and off we went. A few blocks later, we had to towed.
This was a new experience for us and for Wendy, the Windstar. Neither of us had ever ridden in a tow truck......the guy called ahead and made sure the air was on in the office. We were told we could wait in the office where there was seating and a TV.
Why I ever doubt that God is in control of every situation and has whatever is needed at His fingertips is beyond me. I know without a doubt several times He has sent angels in the form human beings to help me. I believe angels come in all colors, sizes and appearances........have you had an angel experience?

When my son was 7 (he's 29 now) he got hit in the mouth with a bat on Good Friday afternoon. We quickly called our children's dentist office even though we thought he would be closed. The dentist answered the phone himself!! He had decided to work that afternoon on some paperwork. He called his assistants and by the time we arrived, they were there ready to comfort us and wire my son's teeth back into place. Even though he had much pain and many more visits to the dentist, he did not lose one of the eight permanent teeth damaged. God was there, taking care of us. That's my only explantation. Praise Him.
Betty,
I have been visited by angels several times in my life. God knows our every need and I'm so glad that angels were watching over you. Whether they were earthly angels or heavenly ones, it makes no difference. God is good.
Be sure to drop over to my Writing Nook and enter my Harvest Giveaway if you haven't already done so.
Blessings,
Mary
Hi Betty...I have two angels that I know of.
We were heading to our favorite lake for a few days of RVing...pulling our 5th wheel. While heading up the steep mountain the radiator blew...limped to a small pull out...no cell service and nobody stopped until Jan and Mike came to our rescue to read more about this experience it's in my August 18th post.
Out of this ordeal we have new friends....there is a dinner picture of us on my Aug.29th post.
There are still lots of kind souls, thank goodness for your angels and your right you really can't judge a book by it's cover.....Hugs, Linda
That is just wonderful, Betty. I'm sure we have angels we are unaware of. I think I've had some close calls driving. I do remember when my daughter had her baby out of town, and I was so sleepy driving home, that I ran off the road. I was almost home, probably asleep. And I'm sure angels have guarded me safely through the night, as I have allergies and asthma.
Yes I have. SEveral years ago when our youngest daughter was about 8 she and I were on our way home from her dentist appt. We were going 55 miles per hour down a black top in Illinois. Too late I realized that we were on black ice!! We started going around and around in circles but never left this country road or hit a thing. I finally made the decision to tap the brake. We turned and caught a small hump of icy snow and stopped dead!! If that had not happened we would have went plugging into this driveway at a house and went right through their garage and beyond. I have always thought that an angel was there with us.
Dear Betty.....
I’ve just sent you an e-mail, after which decided to check out your blog and read your news. Yes dear friend, I know the good Lord was taking care of his precious children and sent angels in disguise to help you in your time of need. I know for sure that there was a guardian angel with Edward during his time in hospital too. Blessing to you both. Marion
Hi Betty,
Yes, I believe there are still a lot of good people left in the world who are willing to help you in time of need. However, I am a little surprised that the two men accepted your money. We have had strangers help us before, but when we offered them money they refused because they were just glad they could help.
Hope you have a good weekend.
Hi Betty! I had a similar thing happen to me as far as not judging a book by its cover. I have a chronic illness and in the beginning, I was unable to walk and had to use crutches. It was extremely painful to put any pressure on my foot. My husband would take me to Ikea just to get out of the house as they has wheelchairs you could borrow. That is not heard of here like in the US. We had dinner there and I need to go to the bathroom so I said to Jos I could go on my crutches. I got to the door of the bathroom and all these women just let it keep shutting in my face. No one would hold the door open! Then a biker (leather, long hair and tatoos) came out of the men's room and saw what the ladies where doing. He said 'Hey wait a minute and let me help you.' He opened the door and then walked into the ladies and opened the door of the handicap toilet too. Yes, don't judge a book by its cover.
We are often too impatient with others when things go wrong and don't stop to think how it feels to us when we are in that situation.
Hugs ~
Heidi
I have no doubt that angels are watching over us all the time. Some seen, some unseen. I'm glad you both are okay!
Hi Betty,
I also believe in angels.
Have you ever heard that song (Angels Among Us)by the Oak Ridge boys?
A little birdie named Marion told me that today was your birthday, so I'm here to wish you A Very Happy Birthday filled with every blessing :)
