One of the things I wanted to do while Marion was visiting was to have a Red Hatter's meeting......we had talked about this many times.....as it so happened, May was the month that a friend, Barbara, and I were responsible for choosing the restaurant...........
We decided on a recently refurbished restaurant in another town............
Since it was Memorial Day, many members had other plans but we were very pleased with our accomodations.........our handsome waiter, John........
Barbara and Marion.......
Our choice of German Chocolate Cake...........
or 13 layer Caramel Cake.......Looking down into the enclosed courtyard from the upstairs balcony.........
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later, that afternoon, we visited a dear gentleman's working farm to show Marion and John farm life in the south.....he toured peanut fields, corn fields, etc., with us....showing us farm machinery to harvest the crops in the fall..... a naturalist who enjoys sharing his knowledge, he carried us to an abandoned house that a female buzzard returns to each year to lay her eggs....the tiny newborn babies are white......I made a picture but have not been able to locate it.......He has garden seed that has been in his family for over 100 years.....a truly educational experience.......
The next morning, Tuesday, we leave for Savannah, Georgia.....we meet another blogging buddy, Sandy....... eat with Paula Deen.......yum, yum.......

Hi Betty, you all look so cute and such darling red hats. I'll have the caramel cake....but both look devine. Lunch with Paula...can't wait.
Glad all is well. Hugs, Linda
Hi, Betty, it's been way too long since I've caught up with you! Oh, your red hat luncheon looked like a lot of fun. Great food & ambience.
And that dinner at your church on that long table brought back LOTS of memories for me too. Our small church where I grew up & my dad was Pastor used to have those every so often, at least once a year we'd do a BIG homecoming & everyone would bring a spread of food. Those were the days!
Hope your summer has been good. Sorry to hear your hubby hasn't been well & I hope he's better soon.
xo,
Rhoda
