Surprise phone call from Marion in Wales.......Drew's Perfectly Polished Formal.....

NOTE: On Easter Sunday I had one of the nicest surprises that I've ever experienced. After we arrived home from church, the phone rung as I was in the kitchen finishing dinner. When I answered and finally realized who was on the other end, I was absolutely as the British say, 'gobsmacked'! It was my dear, dear friend, Marion, from Wales. It was such a delight to hear her soft, lilting, soothing voice. I had imagined a conversation with her many times and questions I would ask her and ideas about various things and then when I had the opportunity, it was hard to remember what I wanted to ask.......I hope to surprise her before long......I must remember there is about a five hour time difference. Thank you dear Marion for my lovely surprise........... She continues to do well from her surgery, just taking it easy for awhile.........

Drew looked mighty spiffy in his black tux....

Drew and a friend..........

Our grandson, Drew, who several weeks ago was in the hospital and we requested your prayers for recently participated in the “Perfectly Polished Spring Formal” held in the University of Georgia Coliseum in Athens. Five hundred plus young men and women from several counties who are enrolled in the social graces classes exhibited dances learned in this class. The Etiquette School was founded to instruct young people in poise, confidence and a higher level of personal standards.

Drew’s Social Grace II class performed the Shag, Foxtrot, Vienna Waltz, Snap, Electric Slide and Slappin' Leather. Other classes were Social II, Dance Club, Cotillion Club and Lead Dance. The last dance of the evening gave the boys the opportunity to dance with their mothers and the daughters with their fathers.

I am so jealous!! You got a call from Marion!! Oh how sweet!! I would have been the same way..DUH!! I would have been so shocked that I would not have known what to say to her except I am so happy to hear your voice. I am happy that she is feeling better. Do you have her home address? I would loved to have been there to watch those kids dance the older dances! I think the social graces class is a great idea. That must have been a shocker to get that call from Marion! How nice.

Hey, Betty...you asked me about Ellaville. I've never been, but I know it's down there near Plains. That's the largest town next to it, from what I heard. My dad had property down there for many years, but my mom did not want to retire in S. GA, so up to NC they went. They split their time between Atlanta & NC now. My dad has a big garden up there & still tends it at almost 80.

Handsome grandson you've got!

Hi Betty,
Thanks for the comment today and I was posting to my blog as your comment came in.
I am so glad that you got to talk to your friend on the phone. Also I must commend your grandson, he is such a fine looking young man that I am sure makes his grandmother mighty proud as you should be. If you have not read my post today, I would like to ask that you remember my friend in pray and if your church has a pray chain or prayer list, would you please put my friend Anita on it.
Thanks so much my and I hope you too have a good weekend.
God Bless!

They both look so sophisticated in their evening wear !! How wonderful.
Well you wondered about the weather here in Wales at the moment. Well it's fantastic weather. In fact it's rather bizarre as it's like summer here. Today was so hot. We were outside all day, Gwenny has been in the pool, and we've been wearing shorts and tee shirts. We are currently experencing weather that we'd usually have in the height of summer !

Betty,
Thanks for visiting Petunia's Garden & me. Isn't it nice when those calls come in! Glad you were there to visit. Drew & friend look like they were set for a nice evening. Learning these things now should indeed give him confidence in all sorts of settings.
