Worship service and dinner at church.......

Note: Some have inquired as to how Edward is progressing after surgery....he continues to do well...still on the weak side.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers...for both of us....

I decided to post another segment...Marion and John are out of pocket but I'm sure she'll catch up shortly........

Arising early, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast.....and then off to Bible Study and worship services.......our congregation was familiar with Marion and John.....Marion and John had kindly remembered several in their prayers who had special needs.....and our congregation had prayed for Marion when she had surgery......

Edward, Betty, Marion and John

In Marion and John's honor we had a southern church dinner after worship service........many different southern dishes.......each lady usually has favorites that she brings.....
Double battered thick sliced smoked bacon deep fried........(this is a favorite with everyone and my family also).....
Ham, fried chicken, fried quail, roast, chicken and dumplings....yum, yum.......
Chicken and dressing.......
Potato souffle, creamed potatoes with cheese topping......corn, baked pineapple, peas, butterbeans, cabbage casserole......
Potato salad, pineapple sandwiches, cheese and macaroni, strawberry salad..........
Don't forget dessert.....cakes, pies, brownies, cobblers, ice cream
and cookies..............gallons of sweet tea and lemonade........

I am always gobsmacked (as the English say) with the variety of dishes brought.

After relaxing on the patio in the afternoon, we returned for evening services......it was a wonderful blessing to have the privilege of sitting on the same pew with Marion and John. Something I had dreamed of for a very long time.....thank you dear Lord.......

The next posting is when we attend the Red Hatter's luncheon.....

Hi Betty,
Wonderful to hear that Edward is continuing to heal. Your southern food buffet sounds just wonderful. I must admit there were a number of things I had never heard of even though my Dad's family was from KY.
It all looks delicious, and of course the best part must have been sharing it with friends, especially John and Marion.
hugs

Well, now I'm hungry!

What a spread. I'm getting hungry just seeing all this food.

Small world. You are Edward and Betty and we are Edward and Betty. However, I call my Edward "Ed" as that is how he was introduced to me, but his entire family calls him Edward.

Have a wonderful week.

dHi Betty, it's good to hear Edward is doing well, and with each day may he feel stronger.

Worshiping together and then enjoying this delicious church dinner is another happy memory of their visit. All the food looks so wonderful.....southern hospitality and southern cooking is just amazing.
The Res Hatter's luncheon is going to be fun.
Hugs, Linda

You certainly treated Marion and John like royalty.

I love your pretty pictures. That was quite a spread. But I don't think our delicious Southern cooking is the best for our health. I just don't eat fried foods anymore and have had to cut way back on fats.

Praying for Edward to have more strength ~
Hugs,
Cathy

Hello Dear Betty..... We are still enjoying Switzerland..... sadly our time here draws ever closer to an end for this holiday.

So wonderful to see your pictures of that wonderful Church luncheon...... What a treat it was. I was quite overwhelmed with it all, and I didn`t get around to taking any pictures of the lunch whatsoever.... but seeing yours is a wonderful reminder of the tremendous feast.

We've had another wonderful day out on lake Zurich..... Tell you more about it on my return. It remains very hot. We send our bestest Love to you and Edward.... Hope all is well - Marion & John

Gobsmacked is a good term for it. I'm amazed at the variety! It all looks so delicious. I love these church dinners, don't you? Marion and John certainly enjoyed wonderful hospitality with you-all in Georgia! :)
I'll bet there were a few pounds put on during the eating of all those fabulous meals. My MIL used to say, "Oh, don't worry, I left out the calories!" :) If only we could!
Nevermind, I'm sure you did lots of walking too :)
