The Funeral...............

I was just reading Blessed Beyond Measure's posting about planning your funeral and that you should be able to have it like you want it.

This reminds me of a true story that happened at a Funeral Home where a friend of ours worked.

A lady passed away (well, naturally she would have or the family wouldn't have been there in the first place) and her family came in to make the arrangements. They were a redneck family from the word go. The husband wanted to have a square dance the night of the visitation "cause that's what Mama would have wanted," but the funeral director said, "no." He did agree to play soft country music. She was to be dressed in a certain manner, "cause that's what Mama would have wanted."

The day of the funeral Mama was carried in to the tune of "Hello Darling" and she was carried out to "He Stopped Loving Her Today"..............................

I deal with death & dying all the time so I think about it alot. I wouldnt want my funeral to be tradional at all, I'd want it to be as fun as it could be. You can be happy even during death & dying times if that person is saved. A friend of mine was killed in a car wreck recently. He was 67 & loved the LORD. His funeral was full of laughter. There was plenty of tears but it was wonderful.

My funeral is written out down to the songs and pallbearers....isnt that awful...I just want one last say on this earth I guess. That song is classic I would probably come back to haunt him.....

Thanks for a great big chuckle. My pastor and his wife attended a funeral last year--the man was dressed in a Star Trek outfit and one of the songs was Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You."

To me that was a very sad post. Like it matters anymore what mama would want. I just want to make sure the gospel is preached wherever the house that held my body is laying. Do you know the song Resurrection Ground? I love that song. I want that sung at the cemetary. I don't look on that ground anylonger as a place to bury the dead so much as I look at it as resurrecion ground. That is what it is for the christian. connie from Texas
