Friday Show and Tell.................A handmade gift from a friend......

Guess what? Today is Friday and Show and Tell over at Kelli's...

A very special plant stand.......................A very sweet, retired school teacher lady who did wonderful wood working asked one day if we had any tobacco sticks left from farming years ago............we had many stored in a barn. Gladly I offered as many as she wanted.

A few weeks later she brought me a beautiful plant stand that she had crafted..........it really is special as it was made from a common, farm commodity from years gone by.......she is deceased but often as I'm dusting the stand she is certainly alive in my memories..............

Wow Betty, your plant stand really looks wonderful and very special indeed! And what a nice story that is behind! I have a little white plant stand, too but it was simply..... bought at IKEA some years ago.

Have a wonderful Friday with lots of interesting S&T's!

Best wishes from Germany!

P.S.: It's 6.50 a.m. here, I got up more than an hour ago and have to hurry for work now....

I'm assuming that in "Tobacco Sticks" you're talking about 'tying the leaves up?' sticks. Right. And just look at the finished stand!! That is so nice. And to have something handmade makes it all the more priceless!!!!

My Show N Tell is shared. Hope you can drop by for a few minutes' visit today.

Who would have thought that such a thing of beauty could be made from old tobacco sticks? Certainly not I. I've seen a lot of the tobacco baskets used though. What a treasure this is!

Hope

Clever lady. I inherited a plant stand just like that but gave it to my daughter as it fits her decor better than mine.
