Today is Friday and Show and Tell over at Kelli's.........
Many years ago, my husband had elderly relatives in a nearby town....I would carry his Mother over to visit and eat lunch. They had no children and lived in the house that the cousin's husband was born in......it was so much fun to visit and hear about their marriage and younger days. My girls loved to go to see them. There was a very early version of a grand piano that was museum quality. In later years after the husband died, we were offered the piano but we had no room with ample space for it......I've often wondered what became of it...........
While my mother-in- law chatted out on the porch or in the kitchen helping prepare the meal I was encouraged to look in the out buildings......I didn't need much encouragement to do that. The buildings were time capsules just waiting to be opened and the contents oohed and awhed over....
There were old wooden ice boxes, oval picture frames, toys, mementos, pictures, dishes, children's clothes from the turn of the century, boxes with all sorts of jewelry, etc.
I even managed to maneuver through the rafters......
Below is a pair of little boy's shoes that belonged to the husband of the lady we visited.
Looks like he ran and played a great deal while wearing the shoes.......I'll unearth some of the beautiful long dresses and slips with very wide lace to show another time.......

Hi Betty, what lovely memories of a very special time. I would have loved poking around in the buildings and see all the treasures too. Those are the sweetest little shoes, and look at all those little buttons. Have a happy weekend. Hugs, Linda
The shoes soles tell it all. :)
Lovely post as always Betty!
Just absolutely precious...
What a wonderful story Betty and these exquisite little boots, goodness what tales you have to tell....
Yes, I can well imagine what a delight it must have been to hear how life was then and the excitement of discovering the old artefacts tucked away in the barns.
So looking forward to seeing these things in person, so very, very soon. Have a good weekend. Marion
What a cool thing to have. Have a great weekend.
Fabulous. And I love how you have them displayed? Do you keep them there for decor or was this just to show us? No matter, I love it. And I can't wait for the future SnT's with dresses and such from days of yore!!!!
My Show n Tell is ready for visitors.
What lovely little boots - quite an age too, by the buttoning on them. I wonder what other treasures remain to be found?
I LOVE those shoes! Can't you just imagine him as a little boy running and playing in these shoes? I see things like these in antique stores but how neat when it's actually a family piece!

Betty,
What lovely memories!
I sent you an email with copied and pasted stuff from that website so you could see what I saw. The video would not copy (you don't want to see it anyway - believe me!)
I looked at that link again just now and I see comments from people I know but those comments are dated 2007. Someone must have hacked into the site since then. One reason that you might not see it is you may have some kind of filter on your computer that filters out stuff like that.
If you still can't see on the website what I emailed you that I saw, I suggest you ask some of your friends to click on it from their computers and let you know what they see.
Please let me know how this mystery ends.

Did you know roosters are good luck? Wonder why? Stop by for the answer.
For your daily dose of vintage goodness & a bit of silliness, stop by Confessions of an Apron Queen, the home of Vintage Thingies Thursdays.
What a great find. I'm sure you felt like a trasure hunter that day. Too bad about not having room for the piano at the time i'm sure it was a real treasure.
Those shoes really take me back -- to a time long before mine ;^)
Which, of course, is the point of displaying them. Thanks for sharing.
Oh how sweet! Makes one really think about how different life is now...thanks for the look! Can't wait to see what else you pull out for next time.
Betty,
I love those old shoes. They are certainly a treasure. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to seeing the slips and other things that you have.
Blessings,
Mary
PS. Betty, has the book from the Pay it Forward arrived yet?
