I couldn't believe my eyes.......

As I was going through our little village early one morning this week, there standing by the highway, as big as you please, stood the biggest Tom Turkey with his tail feathers spread out that I have ever seen! Never have I seen one like that in our part of the world. When we lived about 150 miles from here to the north, we had a flock of wild turkeys that would come out of the woods frequently, but they were small in size.

Looking in the rear view mirror, I saw him sauntering across the road without a care in the world. I guess Tom knew it was nowhere near Thansgiving, so it was safe to be out and about..............

He must have decided to take a nice morning stroll since November is long gone! Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever seen one in person, only on my Thanksgiving table:)

Oh, this cracked me up, Betty! Since you moved, maybe he was looking for you! LOL
Something tells me he won't make it to next November!

What a wonderful surprise for you Betty. We don’t have wild turkeys in Britain. Just as well he’s not walking the lanes over here right now as his days would be numbered for sure, with this outbreak of bird flu in a turkey farm. Marion

Well, for heaven's sake. I was so moved by your last post I completely forgot to thank you for visiting A Chelsea Morning. I do appreciate it and I especially appreciate the comment you left.

And I'd feel a lot better about that gorgeous turkey if he knew to stay out of the road! LOL

Thank you again, Betty, and I hope you'll visit again.
