This Father's Day, June 19th, 1960......there were two....
2007
Then there fourteen............................Amy's family......................................
Melinda's family..........................................
On Sunday, June 19th, 1960, Edward and I were married and began life together. He was a school teacher and I was a nineteen year old bride with much to learn about many things.....cooking, housekeeping, farming.......and as the years past being a mother to two daughters, Melinda and Amy.....
We've had years filled with good times and sad times as well. I can't say we've never had a cross word, as I've heard some people say....but we have always worked it out. We agreed whoever left had to take the children and the bills, neither of us were that brave....Edward told me in the beginning if I went home to Mama, he wasn't coming to get me.....I believed him.
We've tried to honor the Lord with our lives and have a home where love is felt...Edward has been in the ministry for twenty-two years and the rewards are beyond measure.....The good Lord certainly has blessed us abundantly...........
We have eight grandchildren that we love dearly...We are so blessed with a family that puts each other first........As Martha Stewart would say, "to love and be loved by a good man....it's a good thing"...........

Happy Anniversary, to you and Edward! Such wonderful photos!

Dear Betty
Congratulations to you and your dear husband! Isn't it a blessing to be sharing all those years with the good man the Lord gave you!
I gasped when I saw your wedding picture--your gown is almost identical to mine. And the ballet length gown is rarely seen. We were married about 6 months before you: Dec 19, 1959.
A long and good marriage is a treasure, indeed.
Blessings on you all.
Dear Friend Betty and Edward.....
What a beautiful posting I find this morning. Many congratulations to you both, may this special day be filled with love and happiness and fond memories of your 47 years together.
How lovely to see you and Edward on your wedding day Betty, you look such a pretty bride with your handsome groom. I love your dress. What a coincident, I married first in 1961 and my wedding gown was ballerina length too.
My wish for you is that the years ahead be enriched with good health and much happiness for you both.

WOW!! 47 years!! We are a little behind you with 43 years!! You wrote a great blog!! I like what Martha Stewart says because it is really the truth. I have one of those good men too!! We are so fortunate you and I!!
Thanks for stopping by and giving me your sweet words about my friend Betty. She is being moved to Hospice today. I am going in later today to see how she is doing. I am going to have to back off some because I am seeing it is wearing me out. Guess I have to watch myself too...Sandy
Yes, it is a good thing! Congratulations on 47 years together. You are a beautiful couple and so blessed by God. When we got married my mother-in-law told me if my sweetheart didn't treat me right she I would be welcome in her home and she would give him "what-for". He always knew my mother would welcome him if I made life miserable for him. But it was really a little joke because we knew that God was the center of our marriage and that we could work through things together when the going got rough. (We just celebrated 35 years.)
Happy 47th anniversary to you and your husband. A long and happy marriage is a gift from God..
xo
Dear Betty, what a wonderful post in honor of your anniversary! I could only dream about making it to 47 years. What a beautiful wedding pic of a very handsome couple (then & now). What a tribute to the Lord for keeping your marriage & family all these years. My parents have been married 53 years & it's such a wonderful heritage to have.
Hugs,
Rhoda

I'm a bit late as I'm trying to catch up on reading blogs, but I wanted to congratulate you and Edward and to say how nice it is to see couples that have stayed true to their commitments to one another. It is simply impossible without God being in the midst.
May God bless you both and give you many more happy years to come!
